Meet The Clinicians
Darin Wallis, Ph.D, LMFT
Dr. Darin Wallis is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Addictions Counselor. Dr. Darin has been practicing since 1996, working with a variety of issues with individuals, couples, families and groups. Such issues include Dr. Darin’s expertise with working with depression, anxiety, trauma, intense couple and family conflict, psychotic disorders, substance abuse, and paranormal phenomenon. Dr. Darin has taught family therapy coursework at several university and post-graduate institutions at the graduate, post-graduate, and doctoral levels.
Starting in 2002, Dr. Darin began working with families in family therapy that were experiencing problems with hauntings and paranormal experiences. Working with the paranormal within a family systems approach has allowed Dr. Darin to collaborate the family therapy work with other professionals, such as teaming up with paranormal investigators, psychic mediums, clergy and spiritual professionals (i.e., priests, pastors, Native American shamans), energy workers (Reiki) and other mental health experts (i.e., psychiatrists, mental health therapists, counselors). In addition to working with couples and families experiencing paranormal phenomenon, Dr. Darin is now working with a psychic medium in family therapy (non-haunting cases), using family therapy to augment/supplement the experiences of individuals, couples, families and loved ones during psychic medium readings with deceased loved ones.
Ryan Buell, M.Ed, LPC-A
Supervised by Andrea Alvarez, LPC-S.
Ryan is a licensed professional counselor associate in the state of Texas. He received his master’s in clinical mental health at the University of South Carolina, as well as a certificate in play therapy.
Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Ryan spent years investigating claims of the paranormal across the country. His professional organization, the Paranormal Research Society, investigated hundreds of cases and was the subject of the hit TV docu-series, “Paranormal State,” which aired on A&E for five seasons.
During his time as an investigator, Ryan worked with families and individuals who were impacted by anomalous, unexplained activity. He realized that there was a need for individuals to pursue therapy in order to process and heal from trauma, isolation, confusion and fear as a direct result of their experiences. Unfortunately, most people who have had paranormal experiences feel reluctant to disclose this information to mental health professionals out of fear of being judged, ridiculed or misdiagnosed.
As a therapist, Ryan hopes to bridge this gap by offering unconditional positive regard and support to those who believe they are having paranormal experiences. In addition to this, Ryan enjoys working with clients who are experiencing a variety of different issues, as well as OCD, trauma, military and LGBT+ issues.
Ryan is currently being supervised by Andrea Alvarez until he completes his associate level hours.
